Overview

  • Social, age‑restricted competition for women 35+ focused on fun, fitness and community rather than elite performance.
  • Modified “Superules” rules reduce heavy contact and physical intensity to lower injury risk while keeping the game fast and enjoyable.

Game format & rules

  • 16 onfield players per team squad 8 on bench
  • 18 minute quarters rolling substitutions permitted.
  • No sling tackles, no high contact, stricter penalties for charging/bumping and dangerous play.
  • Footy skills (kicking, marking, handballing) and game sense are emphasised over physical contests.
  • Specific rule variations differ by competition — Peninsula Raiders will provide the exact local rule sheet.

Commitment & season

  • Weekly training sessions (moderate intensity) focused on skills, fitness and game drills.
  • 10 regular-season matches 
  • Flexible participation — no pressure to play every week; priority is enjoyment and wellbeing.

Fitness & safety

  • Sessions are scalable for differing fitness levels; coaches adapt drills to suit beginners through experienced players.
  • Warm-ups, cool-downs and injury-prevention work are regular parts of training.
  • Encourage disclosure of any health concerns to coaches so training can be adapted.
