Overview
- AFL Masters Football provides the opportunity for players 35 years and over to enjoy the game of Aussie Rules Football in a safe, supportive and fun environment. There are no sheep stations involved!
Game format & rules
- Mornington Raiders Masters play under a set of modified rules designed to reduce injury risk and backed by the AFL and the Australian Sports Commission. Matches are played as four 20-minute quarters, with a few rule and scoring adjustments — otherwise it’s footy just as you’ve always known and loved it. Players join for the chance to compete at club level, stay fit, and, above all, enjoy the game alongside friends and family.

Commitment & season
- Weekly training sessions (moderate intensity) focused on skills, fitness and game drills.
- 10 regular-season matches
- Flexible participation — no pressure to play every week; priority is enjoyment and wellbeing.
Fitness & safety
- Sessions are scalable for differing fitness levels; coaches adapt drills to suit beginners through experienced players.
- Warm-ups, cool-downs and injury-prevention work are regular parts of training.
- Encourage disclosure of any health concerns to coaches so training can be adapted.
